Editorial Workflow in Decap CMs (formerly Netlify CMS)
The Editorial Workflow is a nice Kanban board when you collaborate with a team or exclusively from Decap CMs (formerly Netlify CMS).
But the editorial workflow is a pain for solo publishers and when you use the CMS only to add new posts, publications, or categories.
With the editorial workflow enabled one cannot publish directly but has
- to save it,
- then update the status to “Ready,
- only then can publish it. and that every single time that u change something within the post.
JSON vs Folders for administering Publishing stages
Additionally, it is a json that administers those publishing states. The repository with that json gets updated every single time.
And maybe you have an alternative, folder-based, publishing workflow, where folders act as stages. Especially if you work with Obsidian or Roam this might apply to you.
